Our systems

Aluminium decking and roofing, first.

Decking and roofing are what we are built around. Ceiling panels and fencing come from the same extrusions and the same finish family, so a job specified across all four still matches floor to boundary.

Choosing a material

Aluminium vs WPC composite vs hardwood timber.

Most Singapore decking is sold as WPC or timber. Here is an honest side by side, including where aluminium is the weaker choice, so you can decide before anyone quotes you.

Strongest of the threeMiddleWeakest

ConsiderationAluminiumWPC compositeHardwood timber
CostThe premium option of the three. The value answer, and most Singapore decking is sold as WPC.Sits between them to buy, climbs over time with refinishing.
Rot, warp and crackingDoes not rot, warp or crack.Resists rot. Can expand and sag between joists in heat. Can rot, warp and crack over time.
TermitesNot a food source. Not a food source, though timber flour content varies by brand.Vulnerable unless treated and maintained.
MaintenanceRinse and wipe. No sealing or oiling.Occasional wash. No oiling.Sanding, oiling or staining on a regular cycle.
Surface heat in direct sunCan feel hot barefoot at midday. Texture and lighter colours reduce it.Also heats up. Dark boards get hottest.Stays coolest underfoot.
Weight on the structureLightest of the three. Helps where balcony or rooftop loading is capped.Heavier than aluminium.Heaviest, especially dense hardwoods.
Behaviour in fireAluminium itself does not burn.Contains plastic and will burn.Burns.
Look and feelTimber look finishes. Reads as metal up close.Close to timber at a glance.Real grain and warmth.
Service lifeAlu-R Pro states decades with proper installation.Brand dependent. Typically a warranty in the 10 to 25 year range.Depends entirely on the maintenance cycle.

Inside the board

Hollow extruded profile, not a solid plank.

The board is an extruded aluminium profile with internal ribs. That is what keeps the weight down while carrying load, and it is why the same system works on a rooftop terrace where a timber deck would be too heavy.

Internal ribbingCarries load at low weight, stiffness comes from the section not the mass.
Open endsWater drains out along the chambers instead of sitting in the board.
Powder coated finishesTimber look and solid colours from one finish family.
Cut to lengthFor balconies, terraces and walkways, matched to the drawing.

Questions we get asked

Questions we actually get.

More of them, at length, in Insights.

Do you manufacture or distribute?
Alu-R Pro supplies aluminium systems for outdoor and architectural applications in Singapore. Where a specific component is manufactured is stated on the product documentation rather than implied here.
Do you sell to the public or to trade?
Both. Contractors, interior designers and architects specify from us directly, and homeowners are handled through Exterior Design, who install.
Can I get samples and profile drawings?
Yes. Physical samples and dimensioned profile sheets go out on request. Send the drawing or the space and we will send what matches.
Where are you?

A rough size and a photo of the balcony, terrace or porch is usually enough to come back with a price and a lead time.
